Hello, everyone. I’m Daniel Ware.
The other day I was in court, and someone stopped and asked me, “Man, where do you get your shoes? I really liked them.”
In fact, I’ve been asked several times about those shoes.
Local Retailers In The Hot Coffee, Mississippi Area
Where did I get them? I got them in a mercantile store in Hot Coffee, Mississippi. When I tell folks that, they always ask me, “Man, where in the hell is Hot Coffee?” Some people even ask what a mercantile store is. Hot Coffee is obviously a small community in Mississippi, near the Covington Smith County Alliance mercantile store, those stores from 100 years ago, where people came to buy their groceries, clothes, food, whatever. Something you don’t see a whole lot. But those were local businesses.
Supporting Our Local Businesses
One of the issues we see in today’s world is, “Are we supporting our local businesses?” They are the bread and butter of our community. We all appreciate those big box retailers, but they don’t have the personality of the mom and pops. And I hate to see a lot of those disappearing, but they are. I would hate to see a small business owner file for bankruptcy because the business wasn’t getting enough support.
Which Local Businesses Do You Support?
